ג'ינה פרל

ג'ינה עלתה ארצה ממונטריאול, קנדה ב-1988, לאחר שסיימה את לימודיה באוניברסיטת מקגיל עם תואר ראשון בחינוך ולימודי יהדות ותואר שני בפרשנות המקרא. בשנת 1995, ג'ינה, יחד עם בעלה מייקי, עברו לרעננה עם שלושה תינוקות. ילדיהם למדו בבית הספר תל"י רעננה בשנים הראשונות שלו. ג'ינה הצטרפה בהתלהבות וממניעים אידאולוגיים לעמותת הורים לחינוך פלורליסטי עם החלום ליצור בית ספר תיכון חדשני המאגד בתוכו תלמידים מכל מגוון הקשת היהודי, המעודד שיח וכבוד. בניית חברה מלוכדת יותר בישראל, המעוגנת בערכים יהודיים, שאינה מפולגת בקיטוב דתי, היא עדיין אתגר כיום. בשנים הראשונות של מיתרים, כשהתקציב היה מוגבל ביותר, ג'ינה התנדבה ללמד עברית לתלמידים העולים, וכמורה לאנגלית מחליפה לכיתת דוברי אנגלית.

Gina Pearl

Gina made Aliya from Montreal, Canada in 1988, after graduating from McGill University with a B.A. in Education and Judaic Studies and an M.A. in Biblical Interpretation.  In 1995, she moved with her husband Miki to Ra’anana with three babies. Their children attended the TALI school in its first years. Gina enthusiastically and ideologically joined the Amuta Parents for Pluralistic Education with the dream of creating an innovative High School that brings together students from all shades of observance, encouraging dialogue and respect. Building a more cohesive society in Israel, grounded in Jewish values, not divided by religious polarization is still a challenge today. In the early years of Meitarim, when the budget was extremely limited, Gina volunteered to teach Hebrew to the student olim, and to fill in as an English teacher for the Native Speakers’ class.
