אווה דיאמנד

אווה דיאמנד גדלה בקהילה יהודית קונסרבטיבית בניו יורק, שבה הערכים היהודיים היו חלק בלתי נפרד מחיי היום-יום ללא קשר לרמת שמירה על מצוות ואורח חיים דתי. בעקבות עלייתה ב-1989, הבינה אווה שאף אחד משני זרמי החינוך בישראל, דתי או ממלכתי, לא ענה על אחת הסיבות הבסיסיות למעברה לישראל – חיים בחברה מלוכדת, המעוגנת בערכים יהודיים בכבוד ובקבלה ללא קשר ל"תווית" דתית או רמת שמירה על מצוות. היא החליטה שחינוך הוא הבסיס להוביל את החברה לחיים שכאלה.

לאחר שלמדה שאחת הדרכים להשפיע ולייצר שינוי היא מעורבות קהילתית, הצטרפה אווה לקבוצת הורים בעלי אמונות דומות, שהקימה את עמותת הורים לחינוך פלורליסטי ובי"ס מיתרים רעננה, בית ספר על יסודי שש שנתי.

בנוסף למעורבותה בעמותת הורים לחינוך פלורליסטי כגזברית הראשונה וחברת וועד המנהל, שימשה אווה כראש שבט הראל, קבוצת הצופים הדתיים של רעננה, שאף הייתה חלק מהקמתה. לאורך כל התקופה הזאת, עד היום, עבדה אווה בניהול תוכניות ופיתוח מוצרים במגזר ההייטק. היא ממשיכה להיות מעורבת בהדרכה באנגלית, בחונכות ובילוי זמן איכות עם המשפחה המשולבת המורחבת הייחודית שלה.

Ava Diamond

Ava was raised in a Conservative Jewish community in New York, where Jewish values were an integral part of day-to-day life unrelated to level of religious observance. Following her Aliyah in 1989, Ava understood that neither of the two streams of education in Israel, religious or secular, answered one of the fundamental reasons for her moving to Israel – living in a cohesive society, grounded in Jewish values with respect and acceptance regardless of religious “label” or level of observance. She decided that education was at the core of making this possible. 

Having learned that one way to impact change is community involvement, Ava joined the group of parents with similar beliefs, who created the Association for Pluralistic Education and Meitarim, six-year secondary school.

In addition to her involvement in the Association for Pluralistic Education as the first treasurer and board member, Ava served as a Tribe Leader for Harel, the religious scouts group of Ra’anana of which she was also instrumental in establishing. Throughout this time, until today, Ava worked in program management and product development in the hi-tech sector. She continues to remain involved with English tutoring, mentoring, and spending time with her uniquely blended extended family.
